Content-design frameworks, voice systems, and editing passes that turn confusing screens into ones people finish

Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

Interface copy is read by everyone and noticed by no one until it fails. This course gives you the content-design methods, voice-and-tone systems, and editing passes that product UX writers use at companies like Mailchimp, Shopify, and Atlassian, with named tools and before-and-after rewrites. You will leave able to audit a screen, rewrite a flow, design error and empty states, and prove the change with a measurable test.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Audit any screen against the four content-design jobs: orient, label, instruct, and reassure

02

Rewrite buttons and labels so they describe the action and outcome, not the system

03

Build a lightweight voice chart and tone-by-situation map you can apply consistently

04

Write error messages using the what-happened, why, and how-to-fix structure

05

Design empty states and onboarding copy that teach value instead of describing features

06

Run a usability comprehension check and a simple A/B test to prove copy reduces friction
