Make Stained Glass That Holds the Light

A complete beginner path from scoring your first sheet to soldering and displaying a finished panel

Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

Learn the full traditional and Tiffany-style stained glass workflow: scoring and breaking glass, choosing between copper foil and lead came, running smooth solder beads, and assembling square panels. You will build real projects, troubleshoot common faults, and finish pieces that hold up to light, weight, and time. By the end you can design, fabricate, and display a small panel start to finish.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Score and break glass cleanly into straight, curved, and inside-curve shapes using a pistol-grip cutter and running pliers

02

Choose correctly between copper foil and lead came for any given project and budget

03

Wrap, burnish, and solder a smooth raised bead and a flat back seam without overheating glass

04

Cut, stretch, and join lead came into a square, even, leak-resistant panel

05

Design a pattern with proper allowance for foil or came using grozing, layout, and cartoon techniques

06

Apply patina, clean flux residue, and frame or hang a finished piece for backlit or window display
