Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

This course takes you through the real workflow of a film composer: watching a scene, spotting where music belongs, writing thematic material that supports the story, and producing a convincing orchestral mockup that locks to the edit. Every concept is tied to named tools, tempo math, and a worked cue you build yourself. You finish with a portfolio-ready scene scored from spotting session to final bounce.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Run a spotting session and mark accurate music in/out points against timecode

02

Compose a leitmotif and develop it through transposition, reharmonization, and orchestration

03

Build a tempo map that lands hits on key picture cuts using markers and the bars-and-beats grid

04

Produce an orchestral mockup with articulations, keyswitches, and convincing MIDI performance

05

Read and decode a temp track to extract intent without copying it

06

Deliver a synced, balanced cue and export stems against picture
