Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

This course teaches the non-clinical side of running a general dental practice: how to verify insurance and collect what you are owed, how to template a schedule around production and provider time, how to keep hygiene full and treatment-planned dentistry from leaking out the door, and how to lead a small team to consistent numbers. Every module uses real terminology (CDT codes, EOBs, fee schedules), real software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve), and real benchmarks (collections above 98 percent of production, hygiene reappointment above 90 percent, overhead near 60 percent) applied through a recurring case practice. You leave with the systems, scripts, and dashboards an owner-dentist or office manager runs every day to control cash, fill the chair, retain patients, and hold the team accountable.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Run the insurance cycle end to end — verification, accurate CDT coding, clean claims, EOB posting, and appeals — to collect above 98 percent of production

02

Build a templated, block schedule that protects doctor time, keeps hygiene full, and hits a daily production goal tied to overhead

03

Set and adjust a fee schedule using UCR percentiles and negotiate or evaluate PPO participation with real per-procedure math

04

Install retention systems — pre-appointment, reactivation, and treatment-plan follow-up — that lift hygiene reappointment above 90 percent

05

Read the core practice KPIs (production, collections, overhead, case acceptance, hygiene reappointment, new patients) on a weekly dashboard and act on them

06

Lead a small dental team with defined roles, a morning huddle, pay structures, and a compliance baseline for HIPAA and OSHA
