Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

This course teaches the complete audio-restoration pipeline a working editor runs on damaged dialogue and music, from diagnosing a problem on the spectrogram to applying the right repair module in the right order. You will use named tools including iZotope RX, Audacity, and the Youlean Loudness Meter, and the specific numbers that separate clean repair from over-processed, watery artifacts. By the end you can fix 50/60 Hz hum, remove clicks and mouth noise, recover clipped peaks, and reduce broadband noise without destroying the source.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Diagnose hum, clicks, clipping, and broadband noise by reading a spectrogram

02

Remove 50/60 Hz mains hum and its harmonics without thinning the voice

03

Repair clicks, crackle, and mouth noise using De-click and spectral tools

04

Recover clipped and distorted peaks with De-clip and gain staging

05

Reduce broadband background noise to a clean floor without watery artifacts

06

Build a repeatable restoration chain and export to broadcast loudness targets
