Course Overview

What this course is designed to develop

This beginner course teaches working professionals to turn a flat Airtable base into a relational, self-running operations app. You model data with linked records and junction tables, surface answers with rollups and lookups, automate notifications and record updates with the trigger-action builder, and add light logic with the scripting and run-a-script steps. Every technique is shown with a real worked example you can rebuild, and you finish with a shippable Interface Designer app and the judgment to keep automation usage inside plan limits.

Learning Outcomes

What the learner should be able to understand, build, or execute.

01

Model relational data with linked records, junction tables, and self-links instead of duplicating columns

02

Summarize connected records using rollup, lookup, and count fields with the right aggregation function

03

Build trigger-action automations that send Slack and email alerts and update records without manual work

04

Add light logic with conditional automation steps and short scripting-step snippets when no-code falls short

05

Design grouped, filtered, and color-coded views plus a Kanban and calendar for different audiences

06

Ship a role-appropriate app in Interface Designer and stay within automation-run and record limits

Module 1

Module 1: Relational Data With Linked Records

Move from a flat sheet to connected tables so each fact lives in one place. Linked records are the foundation every rollup, automation, and Interface depends on.

Module 2

Module 2: Summarizing With Rollups and Lookups

Turn connected records into answers. Rollups, lookups, and counts pull numbers and text across links and recalculate themselves whenever the underlying records change.

Module 3

Module 3: Automations That Run the Work

Make the base act on its own. The trigger-action builder sends alerts, updates records, and creates rows whenever a condition is met, and scripting steps cover the rare cases no-code cannot.

Module 4: Advanced Views and Interface Designer

Make the base usable for everyone. Grouped, filtered, color-coded views serve power users, while Interface Designer ships a clean app for people who should never see the raw grid.
